Cross Country

Friday at St Pius X School very exciting. We celebrated the feast of St Pius. We also had our school cross country. Then my class went back to their classroom after we had a whole school mass for the big celebration of the feast of St Pius. Because on that same day it also Rm 6’s assembly. We practiced and practiced until it improved, and got much much better. We all knew that our teacher would be proud of us after the whole thing.

It was time, “time for what?” you might be asking. Its time for my class’s assembly, we were all starting off by playing the virtues song while the rest of the school was entering the school hall. They all entered with a big loud noise, but then they finally settled down. Then we started our assembly. Ezra started with the sign of the cross and we all sang the school prayer. We got to the middle of our assembly and we invited some very important people up to the front of the hall. They were a big help to our Year 6 and 7 NetBall team.

Finally we got to the end of our assembly and we were all proud of ourselves. It’s lunch time and our teacher aloud the class to have a shared lunch, there were chips biscuits and all fizzy drink. we wouldn’t even exit the room until all the food was gone by the time we finished eating our rubbish bin was FULL.

Then the lunch bell rang and we were all nervous because it was time for cross country. The juniors had to run around the church and then around the school courts. But lucky for them the senior syndicate had to run around the block. First up it was the 5 year olds girls and boys, they all ran with fierceness in their faces. But sadly not all of them made it into the FIRST SECOND or THIRD category. Then it went to 6 7 8’s and it was slowly coming up to the ten year olds. I had butterflies flying around in my belly. It was nerve racking because I always wanted the first or second place. But sadly I came 4th. Well at least it was worth it. I actually needed that exercise anyways.

Cross country had finished and it was time for class, we had 20 more minutes and we had our fruit then we all wanted to play a game. So we ate quickly and we were slowly making our way out the door. But then there appeared my auntie asking my teacher if she could take me home. “Talk about right timing” I said in my head. Oh well I was so exhausted anyways so it didn't matter. I had a fun day, and I could admit that was the best day I could ever have. I hope that day could come back once more, but unfortunately a day comes and goes FOREVER.

Music Evening

On the the 30th of August on a thursday night. Saint pius x school had their Musical evening for 2012. But for me that would be my first music evening. We have our musical evening every 3 years. implus the students all got a chance to show off our talents. All the classes at St Pius X gathered, and put together an item to perform at our musical night. My class Rm6 put together a class BAND!! Helped by our teacher Mrs Moodley, but most of the help was from our wonderful music teacher Mrs Carter. So now I can say that our class as Rm6 is full of talented musical musicians. One day I know that most of my classmates are going to be a dancer or mostly a singer. That night Rm6 looked superb well not even superb more like PROFESSIONALS. We were all dressed in formal black and white clothing. First up it was Rm2 who started off with a song of prayer named “God is love.” Then it was a joined item of Rm 1 and 2 who danced to “Come dance with me.” the night went so fast that it finally came up to Rm6 and their class BAND. Show us what you got Rm6 says our host of the night, then 123 says Mrs Carter who was just starting us off, then off we went. As a class band we had played a medley joined together with Oh when the saints, Oh to joy and twinkle twinkle little star. We had done a great job and our teacher was so proud of us because we had done such a great job. Then it got up to the third to last then it finally came up to the last song of the night sang by the whole school by singing the “Sister Act Medley.” It was time for our parents to come and collect their children. Otherwise from that I was so exhausted I almost fell asleep in the hall while it was half way through the show. Our teacher was so proud of us and we were all so proud of ourselves as well. I was so tired that I went home ate dinner and then went to bed, because school wasn’t over for the week just yet. It was an amazing and a loud night so by the time I got home I was so full of joy, it was just so so cool.

We have been learning about personal and private information online and how we present ourselves online. Personal information is information we can share safely on line. Private information we should never share without the permission of a parent, guardian, or teacher. If we are not sure we will keep it private.

My name is Zheiyna and I am year 6 and I am a Samoan girl. I'm also very proud to be a Samoan. My interests at school are, writing, R.E and maths. But mostly I enjoy performing arts in and out of school. I enjoy watching movies like Karate Kid and Puss In Boots because I like the funny bits in them.  I like listening to Reggae music but my favourite singer is Jamie Mcdell.
My favourite books to read are non-fiction because I like learning about the solar system and also about the world.

Women's Handball

Women's Handball

The women's handball is an Olympics game, played by a group of women from different parts of the world. They all come together to compete for this year's London 2012 competition. Each women’s Handball team plays with confidence, skill and speed. They pass the ball with strong and powerful throws to each of their teammates until it gets close enough for the of the athletes to throw it into the goal area, passing by the goalie from the other team. The opposing team try hard try hard to make sure the ball doesn’t go into the net. The women’s handball is an amazing Olympic sport. No knowing about the women’s handball, always gets me imagining being on the exact court representing the country I come from in an Honoured and grateful manner.

                             Victory was Finally ours!!!!
News report for the event of “Tug Of War1916 News report
written by Zheiyna

Yesterdays Olympics was a worthy event to watch. The final game of "TUG OF WAR" was between SPX School and St Peters. The eight opponents selected to compete from each school were fierce and bold.  Team members from St Peters showed smirky smiles on their faces, confident that they would win. The MIGHTY opponents from SPX were so determined and keen on winning the Gold medal that you could see the sweat coming through their t-shirts.

“ROUND 1” the referee Moodley yelled out, “Pull pull!” screamed Lopeti to his fellow teammates. With Sefesi, David, Viliami, Deja, Lose, Julia and the toughest out of all Mr Ascott Mafi who was the anchor of the team they pulled the other team over.. Finally after years of failure SPX finally won at the biggest event ever, of “Tug Of War”. With a strong pull from the SPX team it was one to SPX and nothing to St Peters. They had a great game and all made a fantastic effort.

My Supa Hero

This term we have been studying the work of a New Zealand artist, Robyn Kahukiwa. She taught us that everyone who inspires them and in side them, this is my Super Hero of the three people who inspire me in my life.

My Superhero is a combination of three people who inspire me in my life, and those three people is my: Auntie (Hope) my other Auntie (Lulu) and my Grandpa. These people are the people who I look up to when I need their help, they are always by my side in everything I do. They will always be there for me no matter what. My Grandpa represents the skirt that is made out of the Samoan flag, and the crosses with the word God on it. Because he is proud to be a Islander from Samoa and he is proud to have the Catholic religion. My Auntie Hope represents the body and the T-Shirt, my other Auntie Lulu represents the shoes and the rosary because she loves her shoes and she wouldn’t let anyone touch her shoes. The rosary represents my Auntie Lulu as-well because she wears her rosary everyday. I am so proud to have them in my life.

An informative and adventurous Trip into The Past

I was so excited on Friday the 18th of May because the whole of the senior syndicate went on our first school trip for this year. It was all of the Year 5’s to Year 8’s who went to Howick Historical Village. We went to Howick Historical Village according to what we are learning in our topic. And how did we get there, you might be wondering ... by bus. As all of us were on our way to our destination the children on the bus that I went on went CRAZY. I thought The wheels on the bus was for the juniors but it wasn’t, Leone happily sang “The wheels on the bus.” So then we sat and waited patiently until we got to our destination. We finally got there and we had a little bit to eat for morning tea. It was time to attend our first activity from the 1800’s. While we were there we were taken back to the 1800’s. Girls wore long dresses and skirts that were also down to their ankles and boys wore long pants and long sleeve shirts. People in the 1800’s dressed very fancy compared to people in nowadays. We went from activity to activity one after another until it was lunch time. Our first activity was playing par lour games from the past. Mrs Dods the lady in charge of the activity told us that the children in the 1800’s were grateful for what they got for their Christmas present. They got their Christmas present and it was a piece of rope they would be very creative and create a game. So then we played the game with the rope and then Mrs Dods taught us another game called “Squeak Piggy squeak.” with a pillow and a piece of blind fold. The games were all so fun and exciting I felt like staying there for the whole day, but then it was time to move on to our next activity. The games were amazing and creative. I know that I wouldn’t have the mind to think of games like the children in the 1800’s did. It was time for our next activity “The Schoolhouse.” Our teacher’s name was Mrs Mills and she was honestly strict. We weren’t even allowed to speak a single word until the teacher had asked us to. So then we got on with our work in dead silence, doing our handwriting saying Whatever you do, do it well. In the 1800’s the children never had books, only a Slate and another piece of slate or a piece paper and a ink pen called a nib. Afterwards we did a easy as spelling quiz. Dawn and Ezra were on fire, the spelling quiz went girl, boy, girl, boy until our time was up. Than our session was up. With learning about the schools in the 1800’s. Our time was up and we were up to our third activity Trolley making. Finally something so new to us - Trolley making. The teacher Mrs White split us into four groups. And as a group we had to put together a trolley, our groups had four in each and we all had fun. We were all screaming at each other saying “I want to do that, give me that.” Than we all made our trolleys and it was all put together. As we were doing that activity we all learnt how to work as a group, we had help from Viliami’s mum then she went and helped another group. We had to take parts off because we put them in the wrong places, but we didn't care cause it was so new to us. Our trolleys looked amazing and dazzling. Then it was Lunchtime and then after that will be our last but not least Scavenger Hunt. Wow that sounded incredible. I couldn’t wait until our last activity “Yay” this sounds fun I said to myself. We were all excited we were split into two groups one group goes with Mrs Moodley and the other goes with Mrs Logan. We all had to find the items that didn't belong in the houses from the 1800’s. We all had fun and we all tried our best but unfortunately we had finally finished and it was time to go home. So then we got our bags and lined up for our teachers. I hoped I could have lived in the 1800’s because the children activities were honestly fun. I never knew you could make games out of such little things, “I’m so grateful for how I’m living now because not everyone can get a life like people in nowadays.” I thought to myself. We finally got on the bus and happily traveled back to school grounds. Then Mrs Moodley suggested Sleeping Lions until we get back to school then we’ll get a chocolate fish. So then we got to school and the whole of room 6 got our chocolate fish. We tidied up our classroom and we all had a lovely and a exciting day out at Howick Historical Village. We had learnt so many things that we never knew, and it was so awesome.

Time for "ORIENTEERING"

So now the race begins for the Room 6 students who has their session of orienteering, we had a very interesting session of orienteering around the school of Saint Pius X. It was very difficult for some of the students to read our school map including me. For the first session we were confused but then we got the hang of it on our second and our last session of orienteering. As we were struggling to find the control markers, people were on their last course, sadly it wasn't the whole school. But sadly it wasn't the whole school who got a turn to experience how orienteering works, and how it goes. The only classes that had the chance to have their first time in their life time to do orienteering was only the senior part of the school, which was Room 3 the year 5 and six's. Room 7 the year seven and eights, and the last group to do orienteering was Room 6 the year six and sevens. Our orienteering field day was at Waiatarua Reserve. Doing orienteering was so awesome, we all got to run around get to compete against one another. We all did our best and we all did well in our first session. But I'm pretty sure that it's not about winning, but it's okay to just have fun and try your best. In Room 6's first session were all excited and couldn't wait to get outside. So then afterwards we finally got a chance to do a little session of orienteering, we started around our classroom than we made a circle with controls. Our task was to go around the circle and we couldn't go backwards, so just to make sure of it for and example. If we went around the circle and you had just missed it, you'll have to go right back around the circle and then punch the holes from the control onto your piece of paper. It was real good fun but except from the whole class I was probably the only one who missed a control and had to go right back around, I was so bombed out I screamed at myself as my other classmates were passing by looking at me like I had some crazy thing wrong with me. But than I got to it and than people were screaming out "I'd finished, I'd finished" and than they gave their piece of paper to our leader Irene. Later on I was the last one to finish and our session was over, all the other students were all puffing like they were all out of breath including me as well. We had to go for lunch and we were all racing to the classroom as some students would have been walking. I was telling my teacher Mrs Moodley how fun our session was and how I felt, we were all so blesses to have a chance to have sessions of orienteering. So then the day game to an end and we were all so tired, I had fun and probably so as the rest of us. It was so awesome that I wanted to go home and scream at my dad and tell him all of it, but I didn't want to make my dad death or anything so than I went home that day and told him nice and calmly. Then I had went to school hoping that we'll have another session but sadly it was only every Wednesday, well I felt kind of upset that we never had sessions everyday but than otherwise I feel so blessed already having to do orienteering. From my point of view orienteering is the best activity to know and play, when I did my first session I wanted to play it everyday but we couldn't. But it was alright because I was going to do it every Wednesday until our their time was up teaching at St Pius X school. We all had great fun.

My 1800's Presentation

We are learning about how education has changed from the past to education  nowadays. We had to choose key questions about what we wanted to know  about education in the 1800 and research the answers. We enjoyed out visit to Howick Historical Village and researching these questions on the internet and in the library.. This is what we learned.

Team Work

We have been learning about how the past changes the future. We learnt that by Reducing, Reuseing and Recycling we can change the furture and it will make the future a better place.

Setting
 WHERE: Mt Wellington- At home.

WHEN: School holidays.

Plot

There lived a 13 year old girl named lucy who was a very Cheeky,Untidy and a lazy girl who wanted to be good when she felt like. Mum was a very Angry Mother when it came up to lucy being very untidy

Climax

Lucy felt guilty and didn't want her mum to become more angry so she did what she was asked to do and cleaned her bedroom even though she felt lazy and tired. She learnt to be clean right when she slipped over her pair of socks and went face to face on the floor.

Theme

The message of the story was to always keep your bedrooms clean and to keep everything nice and clean.(*CLEANLINESS*)

My Story.

On one hot summery day, lazy Lucy was such a untidy teenager that if you ever walked into her room it will smell like a Cat had died in there and it would look like a jungle. Lucy’s mum becomes a Angry Mother when it comes up to Lucy not keeping her bedroom clean.

Each day mum would ask her to clean her bedroom but all that came out of Lucy’s mouth was “Yeah I’ll do it later.” One hour later Lucy’s mother got so furious and asked Lucy nice and calmly once again to please clean her bedroom. Half of Lucy’s clothes were hanging out of her bedroom door. There was no answer but then “NO NO NO, I’ll do it later I said” Mom screams out “When I come back from a nice refreshing walk it better be done immediately, do you understand me?” “Yeah okay then what ever” Lucy replied. While mom was on her walk she was thinking of a way to make Lucy feel like a real teenage girl and be a clean and a good girl.

Then finally Lucy felt guilty and did what she was asked to do, she did not want her mum to be more angry than how she was before she left the house. So even though Lucy was tired and did not feel like doing it she did it. Lucy got on with it and did it for her mum’s sake. Lucy felt like stopping but she wanted to get it over and done with. She saw mom through the front window and then leaped back onto her couch. Mum walked through the front door looking nice and calm, so she asked Lucy once more “Have you cleaned your room Lucy?” “All done” Lucy replied in sleepiness. Mom walked up stairs to Lucy’s room, It was all nice and clean, It was spotless. Mom walked down stairs and said to Lucy “See Lucy isn’t it nice to stay in a clean room?” “ Yeah but it was quite tiring cleaning,” Lucy said. So then starting from that day Lucy kept her room nice and in fact it was spotless especially because when she walked back up she forgot about her socks on the floor and slipped over it and went face to face on the floor. “Ouch my head hurts” Lucy said. That was when she had learnt her lesson, to keep her bedroom clean.

So mum was so happy and was in a very good mood after that. So then Lucy was confident that she was going to keep her room clean so that nothing bad would happen again like slipping over her own socks.

YAY its finally the school holidays, but it was the most sacred week because the first day of the school holidays was on GOOD FRIDAY.... The second day of the school holiday was on a lovely, sunny Saturday morning. It was the day before the most graceful day of the month, EASTER SUNDAY. It was Easter Sunday. While my two aunties and I were waiting for the mass to start, we knelt down on our knees and started praying gracefully.

Next it was Monday and it was the first day of our Two Weeks holiday, later on that Monday I said in happiness and confidence,"I am so happy that the school holidays had started."

It was Tuesday and I was already missing my friends,I was wishing that I had something to remind me of them. I was having an awesome day so far, I couldn’t wait until the next day, just to sit back and watch Disney channel.

YES it's Wednesday, It's time for me to sit back and watch my favourite channel Disney and also Nickelodeon.

NOOOO, it was Thursday and the first week of the school holidays was almost over, "Days go fast" I said, but it was alright because my auntie just told us that we were going to the movies for my brother Phoenix birthday, he was turning 14 years of age. I jumped for joy right after she told us. "now I wish days will go extremely fast to reach next week on Tuesday" I said said.

Yes its was Friday and we were all excited but especially my brother Phoenix. He couldn't wait until we were going to the movies.

"Come back daylight savings, and make our days shorter again" I said in disparate-ion, It was Saturday and my brother was thinking of a movie to watch, then out of nowhere came "TITANIC" Then the rest of us started debating about Battleship or Titanic, it was four against one.

But its was Sunday and we all woke up getting dressed for Church and the debate was still on, then my Auntie walked in and heard us then she said looking furious " It is up to your brother on what movie we were going to watch, after all it was his birthday" We all replied "Yeah true that" Then she said "If you want to watch Battleship you can watch it but if your brother wants to watch Titanic let him" We were all happy.

So it was a beautiful Monday morning, it was almost Tuesday the day to go the movies. "YAY" we said.

"Yes, its finally Tuesday" we said and we all jumped with excitement. We all had a nice and clean shower and we dressed up looking superb. We started walking down to G.I later on that day to catch a Train ride to Hoyts Cinema at Sylvia Park. So it had got to the point where we were being so impatient and we all ran like the wind up the staircase. But it was better then running up the escalators and tripping up every minute. So we had finally got up to the top with no broken ankles. After all of that it was MOVIE TIME.

(Sigh) I had wished that Wednesday had gone back to Tuesday when we were in the two separate cinema Titanic and BattleShip. But sadly it was Wednesday but it was alright because I was thankful to go to the Movies on Tuesday.

It was a lovely Thursday Morning and I couldn't wait until the school holidays were over, I just wanted to go back to school and see my friends again. "I can't wait to go back to school" I said to myself.

It was Friday and I was so happy, there were two more days to go then school will be back on ready for Term 2.

Its Saturday morning and I just woke up and the time was almost 10.00 AM because I stayed up until 11.00PM at night watching Victorious, iCarly and Big Time Rush. But I woke up from a very comfortable sleep.

"SUNDAY" I said in happiness, It was the last day of the school holiday and I was so happy. School was going to be the next day, but Sunday felt like a really small day. I couldn't wait until the next day because of school. I felt so bored and exhausted on Sunday but the thing was that the school holidays were finally going to be over,
I couldn't wait to see my friends the next day, but lastly I had a really cool and awesome holiday, and I wish to have another exciting holiday again.

My Goals for Term 2

My Goals for Term 2 is to:

My goal for reading is for me to get better at making Inferences.
